MAC just came out with a new collection of twelve creme eyeshadows that retail for $18.50 each called the Electric Cool Shadows. The collection is only released at Nordstrom MAC counters right now but will be released in all other counters and MAC stores on August 2nd. I'd say the collection is mostly bright colors but there are some nice neutrals as well. All of the creme eyeshadows have a tons of shimmer and glitter so if you don't like that then these might not be for you. These are EXTREMELY soft and just dabbing your finger into the products is all I needed to even swatch them on my hand. I apply these with my finger because I find that using a brush with these wastes a LOT of product.
Pros: This is extremely creamy, extremely pigmented, it can be used on its own and as a base. The staying power is very impressive. I wore them yesterday with a primer underneath and they lasted a good 6 hours but I have yet to wear them without a primer for some reason..The color payoff is great and so is the opacity.
Cons: The price. Quite frankly the amount of product you get for the price you pay is simply just not worth it. You're paying almost $19 for only 2.1 grams of product. To compare, a MAC paint pot contains 5 grams of product and cost $17.50. You're paying a dollar left for more than double the amount of product. My biggest concern is running out of the shadow quite quickly because there is so little product. Also since they are so soft, the shadows can melt or even appear to have "cracked" in the pan and I'll show you in the pictures.
My recommendation for these shadows is to maybe get one neutral shade if you really want to but other than that just stick to the unique colors and shades because you can just get a MAC paint pot or even the Maybelline Color Tattoos which are around $5 for almost 4 grams of product. Unfortunately I got 3 neutrals and only one bold color but I will definitely be going back for the daring colors because I swatched them on my hand and basically died at the duochrome and vibrancy of the colors.
The shades I got are: Superwatt, Coil, Electroplate, and Fashion Circuit

The four shadows just chillin in my front yard. |
SUPERWATT
Superwatt is a slightly darker shampagne color with more brown undertones rather than golden ones. Honestly when I first swatched this it looked almost like glitter on my skin but as I got a little more product it started to look more like MAC's All That Glitters in the form of a creme shadow. This color would work great as a highlight for fair skinned people and for us desis I actually really like this as an all over the lid color or even something to put on the center of your lid so your eyes look bigger. Since it does have that yellow-brown undertone I think it's much more flattering on people with yellow undertones. As you can see in the pan, the shadow is slightly cracked. I took it back to the MAC counter hoping they would allow me to exchange it for a new one but they told me all the shadows were like that and I wasn't losing any product.
COIL
In the pot, Coil looks like a gorgeous shimmery metallic copper-bronze but on the lids it translates as more of a warm metallic brown. It look so similar to Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Bad To The Bronze. The only difference between the two is that the Color Tattoo has silver shimmer whereas Coil has a golden frost to it. I'd say you could skip out on this one just because it's so similar to ever other warm brown shadow.
ELECTROPLATE
Electroplate is a gray-silver but it is definitely muted and to me seems to have more of a purple undertone. In the second picture you can see where I dabbed my finger and that I wasn't kidding when I said I just barely touched the eye shadow to get a nice swatch.
FASHION CIRCUIT
I was very surprised at this colors opacity because normally when swatched these colors appear normal but on the lids they sheer out and you're just left with disappointment. I really like using this on the lower lashline for a nice pop of color in the summer!
